Why Live a Mythic Life
The importance of living a physical life and gaining insights into creating golden pathways, is clearly the only real choice to bringing happiness. We can all sit and complain, never running out of things to be unhappy with. We are confronted on a daily basis with the inequity of lifeÕs circumstances. We can fill a lifetime with reasons why we couldnÕt do or be what we wanted. We can divorce every partner and hate our parents and our children. We can walk around with a mask of, ÒI have it madeÓ, until we die. We can take all the workshops and visit all the sacred sites and spiritual teachers. We can hire our own personal psychic and hope they donÕt give us too much bad news. Horoscopes, Shamanism, Being a Christ, Religious Science, The Secret, Hypnotism, hedonism, are all part of a long list of activities of the mind. All in the attempt to try and get us to a place of making it, looking good and true happiness. All of these activities and more are fine and a natural part of being a creative entity. But as a means to an end they fail. You alone are the only one who has the power to create yourself into who you desire to be. Dancing and writing and singing are great and even greater if you receive accolades and money for them. But unless you are already guided in each day and every moment, life will seem like a cruel joke at best. The best you will be able to offer is a variety of masks. To serve yourself is to serve others. Happiness can only be derived from becoming who you are at the core.
Living a mythic life is in essence saying to yourself, I am an epic character in a grand play. My part is integral to all life. I am a mystic and healer of my own life and by standing in my power I am giving others the same right. I am a God or Goddess and the myths I play out create cities of light. I am the changer of structures and bringer of new ideas to nations. I am a mythmaker. This way of perceiving our lives is pointing to a Masters ways of creating truth moment to moment. If you look at the nature of reality all life enhancing ideas are imbued with a spiritual essence that expands. Negative ideas have no life force within or behind them. This is why the power of being a mythmaker works so well. We grew up with stories, our families were a conglomeration of them based on the greater myths around us. Myth connects us with ourselves and others, through story telling we can tell where we are without blame and retribution. We are interpreting the story and the myth behind in order to create a new life-enhancing version.
If in my current version I am the ugly step sister in ÒCinderellaÓ, I can see it and change it to another version or another myth that resonates with myself. I can see myself as the ugly duckling now turned into a glorious swan, full of compassion, wisdom and strength. Now who am I? The Great and beloved Princess Goddess who is heir to the throne. I will bring honor to my court and I will be fair to my people. I have learned great love and now it is my noble duty to bestow my gifts to others in accordance with my code of honor.
I will create a code of honor befitting one who has risen to such heights. Someone who appreciates her life and treats it with honor and grace.
Gaining Clarity
Know the question, it may be, How can I know my true essence enough to even begin to be guided by the signs and myths around me? Firstly you must want to truly live a guided life, you must truly with all of your being want to be happy. You must be willing to stretch your wings and learn what life is offering. You are being offered a tool it is entirely up to whether to negate this as just one more idea or concept that holds little hope or help or to embrace yourself and begin to believe that you are worthy of having a life of joy, fulfillment and ultimately the freedom to create your life the way you would envision it.
Start by making a list of want ideas and activities and ways of expressing cause the greatest joy to rise in you. My list may look something like this
1. I love animals and listening to the birds outside early in the morning
2. I love the smell of freshly mown grass and looking at all the trees as I drive. I imagine who everything is connected by the trees. Like children playing the game secret I imagine how the trees speak to each other through the wind and carry messages of life through out the land.
3. I love different kinds of music and how it puts me in moods where I can create mythic scenerios like a good book to carry me through my day.
4. I love thinking about dressing and clothing myself beautifully as I envision myself in life.
5. I enjoy being in public places and watching and listening to people around me.
6. I love writing
7. I love dancing
8. I love painting and drawing
9. I love learning
10. I love myself and I love how I can feel and enjoy the beauty and mysterious nature of life around me.
11. I love knowing that I am cared for and supported by life
12. I love home improvement projects and decorating
13. I love biking
14. I love good conversations
15. I love water and going to the spa.
16. I love caring for myself through eating wholesome foods and exercising and rest.
17. I love feeling that I am good enough the way I am.
I know that sometimes we just donÕt feel good or positive and life seems empty and cruel. These are the times to dig deep into what do we really want. Maybe this is life redirecting us and telling us to take these moments to nurture and practice self care. Then feeling badly can be looked at as an opportunity to nourish and build ourselves back up so that we can gain real clarity instead of stumbling blindly down a road that will not lead us to our own sacred garden.
Life is not about some end result. Even though setting goals is good, reaching them is only an opportunity to set another one. It is in living each moment fully while we are working on our goals that is the key.
